Keeping Pets Fit, Active & Healthy with PetSafe Canada & Giveaway!

If you follow us on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook, you’re probably aware that we’ve packed up and moved to the country. You can catch up by heading over and reading our last post Moving Long Distance with Pugs and a Cat.

Oh yes, we moved to the country with wide open fields, trees aplenty, calm and quiet, no more dealing with rush “hour” traffic that actually lasts 24 hours!

But you know what else the country has?

Snow. Let me correct myself. We have SNOW.

I’m not talking about the few centimetres of snow I complained about while living in the city. I’m talking about snow so deep I can’t walk through those wide open fields because most likely, I wouldn’t be found until spring thaw 😉

Yes, the snow is beautiful to look at – from inside a warm cozy home, but what about my dogs?

What about them you ask?

This is a sponsored post on behalf of PetSafe Canada. I only share products that I would use for my own pets, myself, or I believe would be of interest to my readers.

Keeping Pets Fit, Active & Healthy with PetSafe Canada

Having to restrict my dogs to the amount of time they can spend outdoors due to extreme snow and cold has at times been a challenge. Yes, even for pugs, who are well known for their love of chilling out, there comes a time when even they need to burn off pent up energy and find ways to challenge their minds. Our friends at PetSafe Canada understood my challenge, and have introduced products that will get our dogs not only physically active, but mentally stimulated during the long Canadian winter months.

Ricochet Electronic Dog Toy

With the PetSafe Ricochet Electronic Dog Toy, my dogs Edie and Edna were sure to have a blast, keep busy, burn off energy, and stimulate their minds!

Entertaining for All!

I think I was entertained just as much watching and laughing at the dogs playing and interacting with the Ricochet Electronic Dog Toy.

Ricochet Toy Features

Two toys in one! That should keep me busy!

The Ricochet electronic pet toy from PetSafe Canada is an interactive paired toy with a “hide and squeak” surprise sound. When your dog plays with one of the two paired toys, it interacts with the other toy, making a squeak sound from up to 30 feet away!

No Stuffing: Not to name names here, but one of my dogs (Edna) may like to pull the stuffing out of her toys, but not to worry, the Ricochet dog toy has no stuffing to pull out, or fabric to tear off.

Long Lasting: The Ricochet Dog Toy is battery operated, and lasts up to a month of daily use and will turn off after 60 minutes.

Availability: PetSafe Canada’s products and toys, are easily available through top pet retailers and online retailers. You can view the complete line of products on the PetSafe site and follow them on Facebook at PetSafe Canada

Let’s not forget about our cats! It’s just as important for our cats to stay fit and healthy too!

Cats Need to Stay Fit and Healthy Too!

As much as our cat Lloyd is quite content to lounge on a bed or by the fireplace during the snowy cold days, it’s just as important for him to keep fit, happy and healthy too.

Knowing our cat Lloyd is a lover of food, PetSafe Canada has made it SO easy for me to control, monitor and schedule feedings all with the ease of an app on my Smartphone.

With a PetSafe Smart Feed Automatic Pet Feeder, that means no more 5:00am wake up calls requesting/demanding breakfast! Something I’m sure many cat parents can relate to.

Control the Amount of Food Dispensed: The Smart Feed Automatic Feeder allows control of amount of food dispensed, from as little as 1/8 cup, to as much as 4 cups per meal for larger dogs.

Control Your Pet’s Meals From Your Smartphone! From the comfort and ease of your Smartphone, the Smart Feed Automatic Feeder allows you to control your pet’s meals and/or serve a meal on-demand.

  1. My cats seem to want to eat more often for some reason so this would help on days I cannot be home to give them a mid day meal.

  2. My cat is slightly overweight and needs some good ol’ portion control! Problem is, he thinks that whenever I’m not home he’ll starve to death so he tries to portion out his own food. This means that sometimes he gobbles ALL his food up at once, other times he won’t eat for hours thinking he’s going to starve without me. Would love to have an automatic feeder so I can help his lose weight + he won’t feel like he always needs me to eat.

  4. This would help out tremendously if I am running late because I have 3 mouths to feed but all eat from the same bowl at the same time.

  5. My cats could use some better portion control with their food and this would be great to help with this! I’d love to be able to release smaller amounts of food throughout the day instead of filling the bowl in the morning or night – my tabby tends to gobble up whatever is there, while my youngest then gets the dregs if we are not home to monitor.

  6. Interesting post. I am especially interested in learning about the automatic feeder in relation to our diabetic cat. He would LOVE to eat 24 hours a day, but now must have scheduled feedings to correspond with his insulin. He gobbles the food down at such a rate that it compares to our food greedy dachshunds. I am wondering it this automatic feeder might slow it down.

    • Our cat Lloyd would also eat 24 hours a day if given the chance! The Automatic feeder gives me control over when he eats, and how much he eats. For cats and dogs that tend to gobble down their food, the slow feature helps by dispensing food over a period of time, rather than all at once.

  7. This would be prefect for us. Sometimes my husband feeds the dog in the morning before he leaves but then if I see the dish empty when I get in the kitchen I find the dog again.

    • Foster #22 Amazing! I would love to hear more about your story!
It’s more common than you think for a pet to be fed multiple meals, especially when more than one person is responsible for feeding. With the Smart Automatic Pet Feeder from PetSafe Canada, the guess work of wondering if a kitty or dog has already been fed is taken away. As much as cats and dogs would be disappointed by this 😉 this feeder gives you meal control and is healthier for pets.

  12. This would make such a useful gift for my sister who travels frequently. She does have a pet sitter who comes by to check in on her cat, but this invention would make life a little easier for peace of mind & the health of her kitty!

  13. We need one of these because our cat eats everything in his bowl at one time and never leaves any food, and when we are gone all day then he only gets to eat once.

  20. My cat has a voracious appetite and sometimes eats so much and so fast that she can’t keep it all down. I try to spread out her food throughout the day. This feeder would be wonderful for those days that I’m not at home with her.

  21. We have five cats, and three areas that we feed them in, having this, would be really helpful. One of our cats is feral she is pretty protective of her food area, I wonder if she would love this in her area.

  23. I work shift work and my pore pup never gets fed at the same time. Breakfast can be anytime between 4am to 10am and dinner is anytime between 3pm and 10pm. I always feel so bad. This would make us both much happier. As well, my fur baby gobbles down her food so quick that she throws it all back up. So we have to feed her small amounts at a time. I LOVE the feature of being able to set multiple times in small portions or even better feature is the Slow Feed Setting. Looks like this was designed with peole like me in mind. Looks like a great product. I can’t wait to try it. Thanks for the chance.

  26. ok , so there are five cats here, ones mine, fluffy butt, he’s been here the longest. There are also 3 females here, who were born here, and then moved around a bit as they are my sons. He’s in the city now and he prefered that they stay in the small town I am in so that they get to go outdoors. There is also a new edition, he came last yr, he’s orange, a bit dumb and he refuses to come to any name (Well I call him big and dumb) He’s the last of the rescues. They all are a bit spoiled… we’ve got cat trees everywhere

  29. My (now only 3) cats and I would greatly benefit from a Smart Feed Automatic Pet Feeder so that I could schedule all the feedings as well the amount of the feedings. Josie is severely overweight because she is always eating and even cleaning up after the others so giving her set, rationed servings would help her. As for me, I am extremely tired of being woken up at 5 am to feed them so I definitely would have less bags under my eyes. It would be a win for us all.
